Alongside the bar, heading away from the Vertex Centre and accommodation blocks, the Street is the campus's miniature high street. While one side of this long, wide pathway is taken up entirely by the wall of the campus bar, along the other side you will find the campus shop, café, launderette, counselling centre and multi-faith centre. The Street itself, a broad and sunken pathway before these buildings, is used from time to time as a location for pop-up markets and stalls. Walk down the street, away from the Vertex Centre, and you will find yourself in the Square.

Aurora slipped away into the street. There were Drones here and there, but none seemed to stop her. She nestled down into the shadows and unclipped her Dad's first-aid pack. She could go to the paramedics, but too many people already knew about her possible powers. She didn't want anyone else to know.
Aurora struggled, but she managed to get her arm into a collar and cuff make-shift sling with the equipment she had. She winced and let out a few muffled groans as she did so. She picked herself up and looked around. There were some groups of students comforting one another. She could easily brush by and pass the fracture on. She shook her head. That was a horrible idea. For now, she would go and do her own thing until things had settled down.

Herbert jogged onto the street with Chris and Olem, his hands cupped around his mouth.
"Aurora, are you here!" He shouted.

Alex tore into the Street, the Square up ahead, if he could just... He stumbled to a halt as he saw the others, almost running into them.
'Guys! Hey! I am...' he almost said "pleased", 'less annoyed than usual to see you. Look, I'm sure Olem told you, we have incoming. I don't know what you did or why, don't really care right now, but there are Drones heading this way to take down whoever's been trashing Drones in the Square. Hope you've got some fight left in you.'

Olem, not so much jogging as striding, appeared in the street just to see Alex running at him. "A fight eh? I'm ready" he said, readying himself and getting into a fighting stance.

Herbert nodded at Alex. "Nice moves dude. A fight though... yeah," he cracked his neck, lighting started to generate from his body. "We have to find Aurora though." His eyes widened. "That reminds me... I have to top up my minutes!"
"Oh, also" he raised a finger. "Funny story but we didn't actually do anything; the drones are just going wild. I think somethings controlling them. they attacked us with very little warning."

'Aurora?' Alex repeated. 'I said she probably needed medical attention, I thought she went to see the paramedics. As for the Drones, something's up with them, but I think the superpowers have got them on edge. We started fighting them off using powers... they pretty much register us as supervillains in response. Olympus tech for you.' His expression darkened a little.
'Anyway, we can try calling Aurora to check where she is, but I say our best bet is to get away from here, head somewhere quiet and just lie low without drawing any unwanted-'
'Halt!' The synthesised voice was accompanied by the clang of metal footsteps. 'Drones attacked in this vicinity. You will come with us for questioning. Resistance will result in counter-measures and arrest.'
'Oh, that's not good...'

Herbert nodded with Alex. "Yeah, makes sense. Well, I think we should try looking for Aurora; who knows if she even made it to the paramedics?" He bit his lip, turning to face the group.
"Guys, we don't have to do this but I think i have an idea." He pointed at the approaching drones in the distance. "I think these drones are looking for unregistered Supers, like, well like us. I can try and draw them away; me running at speed, attracting them all. I reckon my powers probably mask all yours, when you're not using them of course, so you guys go incognito, try to find Aurora and bring her to safety. I'll run around campus and draw in all the drones, away from the students. I mean, if one of us is going to lead a chase, it makes sense to me. You guys can handle any stragglers I don't pick up but the resistance should be minimised."
He looked at all of them: "what do you think? I know I'm faster and my perception, it's like they're all moving in slow mo so I should be able to keep them off me."

Chris had been unusually quiet for the last few minutes, she was still taking in Alex's comedic entrance, thinking rude and not very helpful to laugh at him. Herbert had made smoother entrances. Then again he'd also crashed. Her mind had wandered onto their powers and how they had been coping with them. Considering this was all a really big shock to the system, everyone whose powers she had seen had done quite brilliantly in the way they handled themselves.
"Hmmm I would prefer a fight but I think Alex is right, it's best we start to keep a low profile," she finally spoke up.
Turning to Herbert she could see he was desperate to carry out what he had suggested almost to the point where it seemed he had a great need to prove himself.
"Herrrberrt," she began hesitantly, still unsure of his name, remembering names was not her strongest suit, " if you feel that you can do this then I say go for it! I've seen you against those things, they can't catch you. We'll find Aurrrorrra was it? And then you'll catch up with us later," she said with great confidence.

Aurora flinched when she heard a familiar voice echo throughout the street. It was Herbert, calling her name. She closed her eyes and gave out a low sigh. 'He's really draining my energy. He's lovely, absolutely lovely, but I can't deal with his vigour right now.' Aurora spotted the group down the street. They stood together as though they were talking about their next plan of action. If it was just one or two people, she maybe would have joined them, but groups at the moment were stressing her out. It was hard to coordinate a group and everyone seemed to have something to say. She tried to nestle further into the shadows between two buildings.

Olem slipped into the crowd of people, taking care not to graze of any of them on his way through, and made his way towards where the drones were gathering. He was getting increasingly annoyed by the arrogance of these AI, thinking they could order him around. The crowd had started to thin, and he could see a small gathering of the robots making their way towards some unarmed civilians, who were cowering away from them, but their backs were against a wall. Without thinking he ran forward, pointed his hand at the nearest drone, and it collapsed to the ground if the strings of a puppet were cut. The drones didn't notice one of their number drop, and continued towards the group.
"Hey fuckwards" Olem shouted, and waved his hand at another and it fell as it's companion did.
"You have destroyed Drones, surrender yourself for questioning" there was a burst of static as it finished, and the drones started to look towards him. However, one kept going and slammed it's metallic hand into the face of one of the civilians, knocking them to the ground.
"You get the fuck away from them" Olem growled, his fists opening and closing as he strode defiantly towards the drone. The drone hit the person again, spraying blood onto the wall. Olem Roared with anger and his power flared. The drones in the nearby vicinity collapsed as a wave of putrid air hit them. But at the same time, all the people caught in the blast started to vomit, collapsing to the floor and screaming. Olem collapsed to his knees, power spent and fell face first to the ground, as the surrounding area descended into chaos.
(OOC: If you want, your character can get hit by the wave of energy, but pick a mildly inconvenient symptom like vomiting or coughing blood - also Olem is basically useless for a bit now)

'Olem, hold on!' Alex called out as Olem marched towards the Drones, losing his cool. 'Oh, shit.'
The Drones had been attacking another group of students. Possibly more supers who had caught their attention by mistake. Alex watched as Olem brought the first machine crashing to the ground. So his power didn't just work through touch. 'We should probably get clear,' he said. 'Quickly.'
The words had barely left Alex's mouth when a wave of power surged outwards from Olem, knocking down the Drones. Before it could reach him, Alex had leapt into the air, rising to a height of about twenty feet, where he just hovered. 'Whoa,' he breathed, taking in levitation. 'This... this is some next level shit.'

Post by Kirk Adams on Dec 24, 2016 5:05:17 GMT
Kirk burst onto the main street from an over grown alley way. Ahead of him a squadron of drones faced down a small circle of people. Great. More fuckin drones. As if to taunt him, two more drones were shooting towards him from the other direction. One seemed badly damaged, with a large piece of shrapnel embedded in its face. The other was carrying a battered guitar case in a glass cube stamped EVIDENCE. Kirk looked between the two sets of drones. 85/81EMG pickups in a sweet Les Paul on one side, and several human lives on the other. For the first time that night Kirk hesitated, before shaking his head, mostly at himself, and barrelling towards the outnumbered students. He vaulted the closest drone, ripping a motor chain from its leg as he did so. The drone sank to one knee, crippled, and Kirk span with the chain, snapping the end into the machines faceplate with a satisfying shattering of glass and spray of sparks. The lights on its body died and the drone keeled backwards, dead. Kirk landed as the drone hit the tarmac, skidding to a stop before the group. He nodded to the only one he recognised, another student, with a dark beard, neatly trimmed. "See that evidence case? That's mine, I'm taking it back. Assuming your night was as weird as mine, I figured you'd be some help. On 4?" It was only at this point that Kirk noticed the other student seemed to be levitating quite far above him "that's really neat by the way man" he added, gesturing at the gap between student and solid ground.

Herbert cracked his hands. Things were out of control: it was time for plan Herbert. Suddenly a wave of nausea hit him. Olem, he though, seeing the man collapse nearby. Gritting his teeth he got ready to run; he'd heard about people being able to burn off alcohol and drugs through their metabolism. Perhaps moving would help to speed his up? "I'm going for it!" He shouted up at Alex. Without waiting for a response, he surged forward, trying to empty his mind. He had to be fast, he had to be clever and he couldn't be caught. Running around the immediate area, he started drawing attention to himself through the drones. He made sure to smash a few to show he was the greatest threat at the moment. He skidded to a stop, his clothes burning slightly. "HEY! OVER HERE! I'M GOING TO TAKE DOWN OLYMPUS!" He shouted; it was a long shot but who- "Supervillian detected!" The drones shouted, surging towards him. He took a deep breath and started running, making sure to keep them on him through occasional bursts of destroying their companions. As he ran he felt Olem's power wearing off slightly, as his metabolism burned through the foreign effect. However he still felt like crap and it affected his concentration. To the others they would see a blue and silver blur, trailing a gas like substance, flying in among the drones, slowly herding them towards him like a sheep dog. As Herbert did so, he saw Alex, hovering in the distance and below him another student, standing watching him (Kirk Adams). With a burst of speed, Herbert clocked in above 400mph and grabbed Adams, pulling him away from the impending drones. (Holding his neck because WHIPLASH motherfucker!) Running to the edge of the Square, he dumped him down. Unaware of Kirk's powers, he said "you need to stay back, these guys have turned viscous," before darting off again, the drones in tow. As Herbert ran time slowed to a crawl. He skidded to a stop in his frozen world, panting slightly. Let's think... he thought. It was a nice idea to draw all the drones in the area, which seems to a be a success. I have most of them at least. But now... how do I destroy them? Even if I took them to China I bet they'd be back. Then it hit him! Running back to Alex and Chris he shouted. "I'm going to try something new and it's going to be stupid!" He flew off again, drawing and herding all the bits together by darting in between them, dodging their blows in slow motion. Once they had all collected together Herbert started to run around the huge group in a circle. There had to be about 200 drones but Herbert forced himself to run fast enough so that he was constantly closing up gaps, stopping any from escaping. As he did this lightning started to flicker off his body, striking drones, damaging them slightly. Herbert had created an electric prison for his targets, but he had to keep running to keep it up. If he ran long enough perhaps he'd create a funnel which would short circuit them. Herbert didn't know but he'd have to try. (OOC: Herbert has not taken all the drones; many would have ignored or lost him. However he has most of them. Furthermore, Herbert is out of action until either is targets are dead or any other scenario. He can't stop running otherwise the drones will escape. This should stop him going around killing everything else. Fucking superspeed. )

Suddenly, there was a shock that resonated throughout the street. A pocket of air seemed to compress and then explode outwards, throwing dark energy across the superhumans present. The man who rose from the ground was dressed in black armour, with a long sweeping coat and hood. A mask covered his face, and purple eyes glowed. He had appeared right in the middle of Herbert's cage of lightning.
He growled as some of the drones from within the circle noticed this new threat and converged on him. The electricity bounced off his armour as he confronted them. He rose to his full height, and even though his face was totally covered, his body was disdainful. He snapped his fingers and suddenly the drones around him slowed. Herbert slowed down, his speed decreasing, even as he tried to run faster.
The man leapt forward to face the drones around Herbert and as he did so his body pulsed, and he vanished. Again, a pocket of air compressed and exploded, this time very lightly as he appeared next to one of the drone. He punched it and it started crumpling under the blow, flying backwards in slow motion. Again, the man teleported to the next drone and tore it in two. As he touched it, it reacted at normal speed but as soon as he let it go to fling the two halves away, they slowed as they flew through the air.
He swept another drone with his foot, destroying its legs. As it fell, its descent was a crawl. The man faced the other drone and dodged its blow to his face, before slamming his weight into it. It burst apart, and then he man turned to kick the third drone which was still falling slowly to the ground after having its legs swept from under it. It smashed to the ground at full speed. He then swept through the other drones, throwing them into each other, appearing and disappearing. He dodged blows, but some hit him. Even so they bounced off his armour, as Herbert's lightning ricocheted off, striking more drones. Olum's sickness didn't seem to affect him, but under the armour it was impossible to tell. He could be dying for all anyone knew.
As the last one in Herbert's circle fell to the ground he fixed his gaze on Herbert, who was still caught running slowly in time around a circle, lightning flashing off him in slow arches, caught almost suspended in time. The man started walling beside him at a leisurely pace. 'How are you doing kid? Am I walking too fast for you?'
