Herbert dutifully passed over the slide and leaned into to the computer. He had no idea where this was going but the curiosity about his power was so intense he couldn't stop moving his foot.

Lois gently moved the DNA onto the slide and slid it into a sterile box. Then she stepped back. "Right. So now I'll show you the computer." She showed the computers to Herb. "Here's twin A and here's twin B. Twin A is a super due to exposure from the vertex and twin B is normal. I've been running a comparison program. And it should be nearly done. Now the vertex did one of two things. It altered DNA or the way it was read. If it alters DNA that bodes well for looking at you."

Herb nodded. "Why does that bode well for me?" He stratched his chin. "So my DNA is likely different from Twin B, if we assume I carried the supergene since birth, right? So would it be valid to say that normals exposed to the Vertex have just had their DNA read in a different way? But wouldn't they have had to have something in there to be 'read' in the first place or am I way off?"

"Kinda," said Lois. "We just need to establish what's different between these twins now. And where in the DNA there is a difference."

Herbert just sat there and waited for her to continue.

She stared at the computer. "Right. Twin A and Twin B have a difference in this part of the strand." She pointed at the DNA map where there was a red mark. "No if we zoom in..." She zoomed in. "The mapping doesn't look right. It looks like the base chemicals have been detached and reattached... Like a DNA scar... Right. Now we're going to need a sample of your blood. Not much. Have you ever had a prick test at a hospital?"

Herb remembered Olympus pricking his thumb to try and look for dormant superpowers when he was young. They'd found nothing but he knew now that was because they'd been looking for powers like his parents; physical powers. His mimicry was very different when it came to examination. If he ever joined Olymous he'd have to get them to try again.
"Yeah," he muttered, before holding out is thumb. He found a prick on the side board and jabbed it into his thumb. He gave this to Lois and drew his thumb back, focusing on Lucio's desire to save people, the same one he had. The feeling of responsibility. At least he hoped that was what he thought. He looked down at his thumb as the wound sealed up and dissapeared. Small wounds, very very small wounds, seemed manageable right now.

"Thanks," grinned Lois, placing the sample into a tube and squirting a clear chemical into the blood and shaking it. "Right," she crossed over to the centrefuge in the corner. She typed in a speed setting and inswerted the blood before turning it on, spinning the blood around. "So whilst we're waiting on that do you have any questions? I'll just be isolating the gene mapping."

Herbert thought about it. "Erm, will you publish these results and could you leave my name out? And honestly, I thought you;d have more questions for me. What else d you need me for, really," he laughed.
"I guess I'd like to know when we can start examining my power specifically."

Lois smiled. "We're still on basics at the moment though, and don't worry I wasn't going to name you." Lois stretched her arm. "Basically it took years to map human DNA rapidly and we are looking for a specific gene. Each person has thousands. It's like looking for a grain of sugar in a salt seller. Only once we've found it can we establish more on what we can do." Lois turned back to Herb. "But whist the program iis running we can have a chat about it. What kind of powers a have you copied?"

Herbert nodded, understanding. "Well, excited for it to finish now," he smiled. "Erm, oh, I didn't think I'd told you my power. I was waiting until this session but I guess you already know. I lose track of who I've told. Yeah, I replicate abilities but I don't have a list. I honestly don't know... I guess, at one point I absorbed superhuman strength. I've got Aurora's power, Lucio's, erm, I've got absorbtion from a friend. Like I can absorb stuff like colours, to turn invisible. I have my parents powers. I don't know how it works." He raised his eyebrows. "I think I absorbed Justice's power when I was at Olympus. The lie detection." He shook his head. "Sorry, I can't really keep track of them. I don't know if I keep them forever or if I lose them eventually."

"Well, you didn't tell me if I'm honest, but I've never heard of a healer who uses electricity before. I bet it's popular in hospitals," Lois laughed. "How have you copied them? Touch? Proximity?"

"Deduction," Herbert smiled. "Nice." He laughed at her joke before frowning as he considered the question. "I don't know. I know I've said that a lot but I'm just starting to scratch the surface if these abilities. It took me a while to actually start bringing out powers. It could be either. I haven't checked yet. I never know about a superhuman until I start to replicate their abilities. No-one to test it on."

"So you can detect a Superhuman without them telling you?" Asked Lois. She was curious with a tiny pinch of anxiety.

"No," Herbert laughed. "Not that I know of. Sorry that sounded weird. I just guess I assume if I met someone new and I start flying off an ability but... yeah, half the time I don't know I've absorbed a new ability let alone know who held it."
