Lucio nodded, desperately resisting the temptation to ask if there was any real difference. He knew of the animosity between Swedes and Danes and was ready to use it for humours sake, but only after he got to know this girl better. At least he wasn't the only foreigner at this university.

"I don't get why either of you," Aurora gesutred toward Lucio and Signy, gave Herbert a questioning look as if to say 'tell me if you're foregin too' and continued, "came to England, specifically LONDON to study. Whenever I've been abroad, I've never wanted to come back."

Signe looked back at her laptop and hit the save button. It didn't look like she was going to get far on this chapter today. She looked back over the fight with the troll and thought she would work out Sigyn's escape soon. Unfortunately she couldn't turn it into stone. Signe closed the lid slowly and laid a hand on top of her laptop. Her face was expressionless but she was starting to worry again. What the hell was she supposed to say now?
Luckily the girl asked a question and she answered. "It was my parents' idea. They wantedme to go somewhere... be independent... make friends. They wanted America. I compromised and said England."

"And there's no university where I'm from. The country's too small. Plus there was a scholarship I won, too, which was pretty neat. Otherwise I probably would've gone to France or Italy." Lucio said. "Wait, no, I can't speak Italian and French is strange. I would've come to England anyway, but probably gone to a worse uni, maybe uh, Glasgow? Is that the place where the people shake hands with a headbutt and everyone uses heroin? That's what I was told by a friend of mine who had visited once..."

Signe shrugged. "I'm not up to date on Scottish customs. The most recent thing I know about it was in the Ninth Century."

Aurora looked at Lucio with a straight face. “Yes. Yes it is.” On the inside, she had a good chuckle. She turned to Signe. “100% head-butts and heroin.” She couldn't help but let a smirk escape, but it didn't last long. “I would have chosen the UK over America as well...” She stared into the bottom of her empty mug and thought about America. A lot of things went on there. It was as though the place attracted chaos sometimes. “Did... did you guys have much interaction with Supers in your countries?”

Signe shook her head. "No. But the government doesn't really have a policy on them. It's basically the 'continue as always' line. If it doesn't affect you it's not your problem. That's something I can agree with them on."

Herbert was used to being ignored, as he had been now, but he was determined to fix this. "Sorry again, but my name's Herbert. I didn't catch any of yours?" Determined to give something to the conversation, he set his jaw before saying: "You know, I heard you talking about Supers and I thought I'd just say I have had some interaction with Supers. Quite a lot actually. It's kinda a long story, but I guess you could say I'm, erm, well... friends with some." He looked like he wanted to say more but he stopped himself.

Aurora looked at Herbert with a little shock in her eyes. "Really?" She smiled. "Did they come here, to this uni with you?" Her attention switched to outside. A poster hung on the Bar wall opposite the cafe. An Anti-super human one. She frowned. If his friends had joined then they wouldn't be feeling welcome she assumed. "Sorry, this is Lucio, Signe and I'm Aurora. The offer is still open if you want me to show you to your lecture block. We can go as a group or meet up tomorrow."

Herbert blinked, a little unsure about what to say. "Thanks, that would be great actually. And no,erm, no, not really. My friends didn't come with me." He really appeared to be struggling and he too seemed to have seen the Anti-Supers poster. In a sudden burst of confidence he sat down at the table. "It's really nice to meet you guys... and I know this appears forward but I heard you talking about Supers, you know, without disgust so I going to let you in on a secret." He thought a bit. "Well, technically it's not really a 'secret' per say, but it's kinda frowned upon," he say everyone was looking at him, waiting for him to get to the point. "Okay, well, you guys asked if my 'Super friends' were with me. Truth is, they always are, really.
My parents are Supers."

Signe raised an eyebrow with what may have been deemed a flicker of interest crossing her face. "Huh," she said in a tone that indicates interest but also no knowledge of how to reply.

Aurora let a large smile dominate her face. “Really?” This was interesting. “Does- um- does that make you a Super too? A-are your parents famous?” she whispered. Her eyes darted around the Café, in hopes that no-one was interested in the group's conversation.

Herbert smiled at their reactions, and Aurora's obvious interest. It was strange to be the center of attention. "Yeah," he smiled sheepishly, "it is true." He turned to Aurora. "Well, erm, sorta yes, but technically no. It's actually kinda embarrassing." he leaned forward, tapping his fingers against the desk with unnatural speed. "Yeah, my parents are kinda famous. I mean, not like Captain Atom famous, but they were one of the first to lead the fight to get Supers accepted by the government, so they made a name for themselves there. But they usually work as a unit, and they use to be pretty active back in the 80s, but of course, Supers were not accepted back then so it was kinda in the dark, you know?" Herbert scratched his head, thinking how much he should tell them.
But damn, he wanted to make friends and they all looked so interested, even Signe, who seemed the 'cool' type and Aurora and Lucio's obvious shock was gratifying.
"Anyway, they have been less active and I don't know if you know, but as Supers get older, there powers get less reliable, weaker, stuff like that; I mean, my dad can only call down some decent lightning if he's feeling it nowadays, so they've removed themselves. They act more as consultants for other Supers who need help."
"And like I said earlier, I'm sorta a Super and also not. Technically, the Super gene is genetic, and since my parents and both Supers, I have it, no doubt. But," Herbert was obviously frustrated now, "I don't have powers, at least not yet. My parents say they can come at all times in life, or under, like, special circumstances, no maybe I'll be in class and start flying," he laughed nervously. "But right now, I just 'feel' like somethings happening but maybe it's just my mind."
He looked at them excited faces and smiled; it was new being the centre of attention.

Another heart-on-sleeve sort of person. Aurora felt as though the Freshers were too fast to trust. She wondered if Signe had noticed it as well. She watched Herbert's finger tapping on the table for a moment and then fixed on his face. He seemed excited; almost as though he hadn't had an audience before. Aurora's smile weakened to a softer one.
“That's amazing.” She couldn't help but be a little cynical, but her voice did not convey it. She wasn't convinced about his story, or at least not all of it. He was tapping extraordinarily fast though, so she wasn't sure what to believe. “You might be the first super human I've met in the flesh then; if dormant powers count.” Whatever she was going to believe, this guy looked genuinely happy to have people around him, and she wasn't going to try and ruin his moment.
