Margarita stopped smiling "Erm, yes I was asking whether you know where rooom 8 is?"

Lois laughed. "Yeah. Sorry. Miles away. Yeah. I can take you there." Lois popped her phone back into her handbag and approached the other girl. "That one I know where it is. That's often the bio meeting room. It's in the subbasement. Never understood that. Also it's in a completely separate corridor from room 7 and room 9. Ha. When i fun out who it was that numbered this place I will microwave their skull." Lois laughed again. "Sorry. I'm blabbering. I'm Lois Keegan. Third year biology."

Margarita laughed at Lois' words. The girl seemed nice and friendly "Yeah, I have no idea what's the logic behind the numbering. Nice to meet you, I am Margarita, a first year student and I am doing biology and chemistry. I am glad I found another fellow biologist".

Lois smiled. "Awesome. Nice to meet you, Margarita." She checked her watch. "Meh... Michael won't be here for ten minutes. I'll walk you to Room 8 if you want."

"Nah, it's fine," smiled Lois and led Margarita inside. "So, how are you enjoying Uni. It's been mental the last two weeks. We're never usually that fun."

"I like it here actually. I am happy with my modules and the coursework. The lecturers are helpful and very nice in general", Margarita replied, "What about you? Does it get worse later on?"

Aurora packed away her notepad and trusty pen as her lecture came to an end. Katie turned to her with a gentle smile on her lips. “Did you want to go to the Café? I think the others are meeting there.”
Aurora shook her head. “No, I need to ask the professor something.”
Katie put her hand on Aurora’s arm. “Are you okay? You seem different. Did something happen? Did you ask the guy you like out?” Katie’s voice made Aurora shudder inside of her skin.
The pink-haired student shook her head again. “I’m fine. Though if something were wrong, it would be more serious than guy-problems.” Aurora almost hissed at the end of that statement; Signe’s death wasn’t a trivial matter. Katie backed off and the two walked from their seats in silence. Aurora slowed as she reached the lecturer by the door and Kaite said goodbye as she exited into the corridor.
“Dr Lee?” Aurora looked up at the shaved head of the neat lecturer.
“Ah, Aurora. You’re not at school anymore, you can just call me Ben.” Benjamin let go of the door as the last student left the room and crossed his arms across his torso. He leaned against the door and gave Aurora a stern look. “Or are you just being polite since for the past two years you have avoided actually talking to me?”
Aurora averted her blue gaze from him and cleared her throat. “Well, I’ve never had a reason to talk to you.”
Ben raised an eyebrow. “Your results from my module last year states otherwise.” With a sigh, he gestured to a pair of chairs. They both sat down and Benjamin straightened his tie. “So, what can I do for you?”
“I was wondering if I could switch my dissertation supervisor… to you?”
Ben looked shocked. “To… me? Why?”
Aurora still did not meet his eyes. “Because, despite avoiding you for two years, you happen to be my favourite lecturer. Carol just frustrates me. I thought I could deal with it, but my meeting with her yesterday proved to me that her and I just don’t click.” Aurora shrugged her shoulders. “Besides, I think I know what I want to do my dissertation on, and this is more your specialisation.”
Ben leaned back in his seat and clasped his hands on his knee. He tried to hide the flattered smile, but it was hard to do so. “Right, well since it’s the start of the year, sure, I can arrange that switch for you. I’ll happily oversee your dissertation. What were you thinking about doing it on?”
Blue eyes finally met the hazel ones of Dr Lee. “Sociopathy and Psychopathy.”
A crooked frown replaced Ben’s smile. “You want to do it on antisocial personality disorders?” Aurora nodded her head and Ben rubbed the back of his neck as a sigh escaped him. “Well, that is more my area than Carol’s, but what specifically would be your question?”
“Can you fix one?” Aurora’s serious expression didn’t flinch.
“That can’t be your topic. Firstly, there is not enough meat to it for a whole dissertation and secondly-“ He paused to take a breath. “Studies already show that you can’t ‘fix’ someone like that.”
“What if I think you can?” Aurora had a determined flame in her eye.
Ben studied her for a moment. “There’s more to this than just your dissertation, isn’t there?”
Aurora didn’t say anything for a moment. She looked down into her lap. “Maybe.”
Dr Lee stroked the stubble on his head and leaned forward. “Well, let’s see if I can help you out. We’ll start with using DSM 5 and ICD 10 for diagnosis, see which one sounds more like your problem or if you’re jumping the gun a bit. Let’s see… DSM… Failure to conform to social norms including disrespect for the law and repetition of acts that are grounds for arrest. Constant lying and deception. Being impulsive or failure to plan. Aggressiveness and irritable. A disregard for the safety of others or even themselves. Irresponsibility, usually represented in their work or financial situation. A lack of remorse.”
“ICD 10, ASPD is usually diagnosed by whether the individual shows 3 or more of the following; Callous unconcern for others. Persistent irresponsibility and disregard for social norms, rules and obligations. Unable to maintain relationships though not necessarily having trouble establishing them. Low tolerance to frustration and a low threshold for resorting to aggression and violence. The inability to feel guilt, or unable to grow after punishment for their actions. A readiness to blame others or to make excuses for how they behave.”
“A psychopath though, overlaps with these things but is distinguishable enough to be kept apart from ASPD, according to both the DSM and ICD, though they both have things that they may refer to as psychopathy. Psychopaths have hardly any capability for remorse or empathy. They don’t tend to be anxious or have much fear.”
Aurora nodded her head in thought. “And what is the treatment for Antisocial personality disorders?”
Ben gave it a lot of thought before he opened his mouth again. “Honestly, there is no real way to treat it. The best thing that seems to work is a type of therapy where the therapist tries to rationalise why the patient shouldn’t repeat their acts. They are usually incapable of learning from their mistakes and don’t fully understand what they did wrong. If you want them to ‘change’ the best way to do that is to convince them they have no personal gain or any value from their bad actions.”
Aurora nodded her head. It was the same way she had convinced Olem to leave the Redeemer, pointing out that he was using Olem as a weapon. Though she was not sure how she could convince him to mourn over people he clearly didn’t care about. “Thank you, Dr Lee. That gives me a lot to work off.”
“No problem, Aurora. I’m just concerned. These types of people aren’t ones you want to be manipulated by.”
Aurora stood up and tucked some hair behind her ear. “No, no they’re not. I’m aware of that, but I’m not willing to give up just yet.” Not listening to Ben trying to get her to stay longer, Aurora left the lecture room. She needed to mourn before she moved on to try and fix a personality disorder.

"I have been only to the chemistry labs. I am going to have lab work for biology next semester. Why did you want to study biology? Any favourite aspect?" Margarita asked

"Well," said Lois, looking thoughtful. "I did do a lot of research into the Human Genome Project when I was younger. We might be able to map DNA but we still don't know what it does." Lois clicked her hair back. "I always wondered I there was a supergene and if it affected humans or developed. I just find it strange no one has tried to look for it yet."

Margarita listened carefully "I see...I have studied the supergene but only in connection with certain type of butterflies. I think it all comes down to evolutionary adaptation but scientists don't have answers. To be honest evolution in general still has questions puzzling the scientists. I myself am drawn to the evolution of species, humans specifically and would like to come up with research question on it for my third year. " Margarita smiled for a moment "Of course if I don't discover something else more interesting. There is still plenty of time".

Lois nodded approvingly. "That's a good one. If you still talk to me in three years I'd like to know what you find out." She smiled. "I'm doing mine on genetic fluctuations between superpowered and non-superpowered humans and if different abilities show differet mutations. It will also require some of the neuro-biology stuff. Brain scans are so cool."

Margarita nodded "I would love to talk to you about it" Then she lifted her brows with curiousity. "And have you gotten any data on this?"

"Um... a little," said Lois. "But it was hard work to th hold of Super cells and extract DNA from them. It took me months and loads I paperwork over the summer and I haven't even run tests yet. I suppose Olympus just doesn't want people to have their DNA. Maybe they think I'll weaponise it. Or find a way to shut down the gene. Which seems stupid of course. Altering DNA of a living person is impossible. You can't make a brown eyed person have blue eyes. I did once wonder I you could build an X chromosome from a Y and yes you can buy it won't magically make you female. And it can mess with your health." She laughed but it wasn't quite the same as before. It was more hollow. "Anyhoo not sure how I'm gonna get those brain scans though."
