Go down the stairs from the bar and on the basement level is your on-campus club, RaveSpace! You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and spilt drinks. A dark cavernous space between a stage and a far-too-small bar makes up the dance floor, which has a reputation on campus for being the single stickiest surface on the face of the Earth. However, if you don't mind the state your shoes (and probably the rest of you) will be in come the morning, head down here on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday nights for club tracks, occasional live music, cheap drinks, crazy dancing, a chance to get off with someone you will never see again and an even greater chance of ending the night with your head over a toilet bowl.

(Super Rave)
Heavy electronic music seems to be making the air shake. Neon lights pick out the bar. At the moment, a DJ is on stage, awaiting the arrival of the night's superhero guest. A few students are milling around with drinks in their hands, the freshers who always turn up to the club too early, but the real party is yet to begin.

Herbert and Chris walked in, aware they were ahead of everyone else and picked a space by the bar, ordering drinks.

Chris just ordered a coke for now, after getting that hammered the night before she didn't feel like starting on the alcohol so early. She turned to Herbert, almost expecting him to say something but she knew the emphasis was on her.
"Look I just want to apologise for making out that you're gay, it was selfish of me to cover my own tracks by feeding you to the wolves," she began, "I'm also sorry for what happened last night. I was very forward and wasn't really thinking it through."

Herbert shrugged. "Doesn't matter. It's not like I need to be straight anyway," he said bitterly. "She's not interested in me."

Chris began to rub Herbert's arm in a sort of comforting manner.
"It looks like it matters," she said with a sorrowful expression on her face.

Herbert looked at her. "Hey, Chris... I asked Aurora this, but...," he smiled to himself, looking down, before locking his grey eyes onto hers. "Do you ever get the feeling like you meant to do something, extraordinary?"

Chris seemed a little confused by Herbert's question but she felt as if she should answer him, though she didn't know how.
"You may have noticed Herbert, but I'm from Manchester," she retorted.

Herbert shook his head. "No, I'm not talking about where you're from. I'm talking about who you are... being special," he finished passionately. "I don't... forget it."

Chris felt bad for not answering Herbert properly. Here he was trying to be serious and once again she was turning everything into a joke.
"No, no, it's okay, go on," she encouraged him, "what do you mean? Does this have something to do with your parents?"

Olem walked into the club, it was starting to get more and more crowded, and he tried to avoid bumping into people as he made his way through the crowd towards the bar. He acknowledged Chris and Herbert, but decided to go and talk to them as they appeared to be having a heart to heart.
"A beer please" Olem muttered, quickly taking the drink once he'd paid, chugging a bit and turned around, wondering who else had come so far.

Herbert nodded at Olem and turned back to Chris. "Sort of. I've always been overshadowed by my parents. They had superpowers and I didn't. But it's not that, not really. I just have this feeling like I'm meant for something more. And I've been having these dreams, amazing dreams about a bearded man who can fly!" He moved closer to Chris. "Don't tell anyone, but I think I have powers! Really different ones though. I know I lost my speed but what if that was just the start, you know? I met that bearded man, he said I was special. But," he raised his hand. "I've been trying to use some abilities but nothing. Really, nothing works. My body is just showing me I don't have them; I can't do anything." He shook his head.
"Look, I probably just got supercharged by the Vertex Centre; I've been looking into it and it makes sense. It ripped Omega apart and spread his abilities through loads of students. I was right next to it, which explains why I've been showing such weird signs, with abilities all over the place. But I'm losing them because obviously, the energy is wearing off. That's the truth, I know it. I've heard about students who had signs of abilities and lost them."
"But I can't shake that feeling. And the dreams...," he locked his eyes on Chris, his grey eyes burning. "I saw the man in black. He talked to me before, on the day of the accident. He told me to 'work on my speed' but it felt like he was saying something else. Him and the bearded man- they know what's going on with me." He raised a hand. "But please don't tell anyone about this. Our secret, okay? I think if they knew I was starting to believe I had powers again they'd be worried I'd throw myself off a building again.

Signe looked a little concerned. Boy this place was crowded. And loud. And hot. She looked at Aurora for guidance.

"Looks like we're beginning to build quite a list of secrets between us," Chris smiled at him.
As for everything else he'd said, well......what was she to make of it? He'd been having dreams about a bearded man and then he met him, I guess that's a little strange. As for Herbert being special, well, of course he was, his parents were so why wouldn't he be? But who was this man in black he mentioned? Did it have something to do with all those drones suddenly going boom when they were surrounded the other day?
"I don't really know what to make of all this Herb," Chris addressed him again, "But I promise, once we get into a routine, we'll go and train and we'll figure this out. If you're having weird dreams then I would suggest deep meditation and I'm getting pretty good at that," she said giving him a comforting smile.

Aurora scanned the area for faces she knew. Strobe lighting flashed across the dark room. Her heels stuck to the floor and she could smell sweat in the air. “I see Herb and Chris!” Aurora shouted over the music at Signe. “I'm not sure Herb wants to see me right now!” Aurora continued to shout over the noise and continued to look. “I can see Olem! He's got a table!”
Aurora went to take Signe's hand, if she would let her, and squeezed past the people to get to where Olem occupied, guiding Signe through the safest route. Aurora took off her coat and slung it over the back of a chair and pointed to it. “I'm leaving it here, Signe.” It was quieter at the table. She smiled at Olem. “Well! Don't you scrub up nicely!”
