Olem grunted in approval and turned on the spot, following Alex towards the bar.

James sat quietly while the conversation whirled around him, he didn't know these people after all. As the crowd began to disperse he headed back in the direction of his room, throwing the flimsy plastic coffee cup into the bin. He was heading in the same direction as the girl he had been talking to before the mob descended [Ed].
"I'm James by the way, you have some crazy friends"

Suddenly Chris burst through into the main communal area dragging a huge black suitcase behind her with a large rucksack over one shoulder and a smaller backpack over the other.
"Sorry I've arrived a little late to this party guys" she panted "but don't worry, I'm sure I'll liven things up in a moment" she proclaimed as she dropped all her luggage, ruffled her hair by shaking her head from side to side and slipped Herbert a cheeky wink as a playful smile spread across her face.

Signe rolled her eyes and walked of in the direction of the university library. Why was she surrounded by so much noise? It was infuriating.

Herbert made his way into the bustling halls and was immediately surprised by a very attractive blonde girl winking at him. He gaped like a fish and tried to piece together whether he was still asleep in the library and was in fact, still in a dream.

(OOC: Also to help round off the day.)
Signe went back to her room. She was now in a bad mood. She didn't like being told what to do and now both Alex and Olem had irritated her. She rubbed her forehead and lay back on her bed. She needed to think of more plot. She thought of Aurora. She seemed rather like a hero to her. Lucio too, even of he was more comic. Ed ... Yeah. Loud but well-meaning. Another hero. Herbert was a little too timid she thought but he would make a lowly side character. Olem? Troll. He was crude and loud and caused trouble. Alex? Alex was not good. That much she could say. He was a dwarf. Sneaky and trying to manipulate you. She wouldn't put it past him to stitch someone's mouth shut. She sat up. Yeah. Maybe she could do that, but right now she still had that troll fight to finish. Ah well. That was the morning's job.

"Okay well I can see you're all a lively bunch" Chris sarcastically remarked "but as much as I would love to stay and partake in whatever you guys are offering as fun, I'm completely knackered so I'm gonna go hit the hay."
With that she picked up her previously dumped luggage and headed out the door making sure to show off her hair again by shaking it some more and this time she through a wink in the direction of Lucio whom she had noticed had been staring at her.

Herbert shook his head at this weird new addition, but eh couldn't quite take his eyes off her as she walked away rather artfully. Looking around he was disturbed at how quickly everyone was judging one and other.
He slowly made his way to his new room, struggling to put the keys in. As he climbed into bed he worried not only about Uni but how he would live up to his parents legacy. A lot was riding on him and for once he wasn't going to mess it up. However something was different, he thought as he raised his hand which was vibrating with inhuman speed...
...and that scared him.

Alex lay awake on top of his bed's uncomfortably stiff mattress in his tiny room. It had been an interesting start to the year. Bella seemed nice enough, as did Aurora and he reckoned he could get along with Olem. Herbert clearly still had to wrap his head around uni life, but whatever - so did everyone to some extent when they started. He wasn't sure what to make of Signe. Alex got the whole quiet and moody thing, but he also knew just how much people tended to use it as a shield. Never trust the quiet ones, he told himself, smiling as he realised that most of the time that included him.
Outside, the Drones' footsteps were still audible as they continued their patrol of campus. As Alex let himself drift off to sleep, the last thing he heard was their metallic march.

Olem stomped into the building, tossing a dead cigarette out the door as he went. He went to the desk, collected his papers and his key, and marched himself towards his room. The door opened with a squeak, and a cloud of dust billowed from the draft created by it's movement. He dumped his bag on one side of the room, and sat on the grey foamy mattress that would be his bed for the next year, thinking about what happened that day. He reached into his pocket, and thumbed open his little black book, giving it a cursory glance through, before putting it away, and throwing his coat over a chair. He collapsed back onto the bed, and slowly went to sleep, amused by how familiar the bed felt.

Aurora found her way back to the accommodation block. She got into her tiny room and leaned her back against the door. She let out a sigh. It had been a busy day; she never usually made the effort to meet new people; she was happy with her current friendship circle. However, she had enjoyed the fresh faces and it was nice to get to know some of the others she had missed on Campus in the previous years.
Still, it had drained her. She collapsed into her bed while absolutely nothing had been unpacked. She was hoping to be moved to a bigger room as soon as possible. She closed her eyes and thought about the new people she had met.
Ed was loud and friendly, though Aurora was sure she was a conspiracy theory fan. She would forgive Ed for the tomatoes.
Lucio was adorable. Innocent and naïve, but he could clearly look after himself. She wasn't worried about him.
Herbert... well, he was Herbert. Energy everywhere and seemed like a bit of scatterbrain, still, he had the potential to be a Super and that was exciting. He was nice.
Signe seemed nice. Quiet, calm and collected but also seemed like she was away with the fairies a lot. A possible companion for quiet nights?
James she barely had any contact with, but he seemed okay?
Alex seemed like an average guy. Cool and casual. Not quick to open up, but didn't shut anyone out either.
Olem seemed misunderstood by many. Was it because he was a mature student? Aurora enjoyed his company anyway. He seemed nice, but had some history, or so Aurora thought.
That was everyone wasn't it? That she had met anyway. Oh- Aurora had fallen asleep.

Herbert woke suddenly. Everything was quiet, his clock ticking gently by the bedside. His room was small but the cream coloured walls gave it a clean, homely feel. He frowned; usually he slept quite deeply. He couldn't imagine anything waking him. He jerked as a crackle ran out across the sky, like thunder but with a ripping quality like sheets being torn.
Throwing off the covers, he made his way to the window, where the Vertex Centre was flashing and pulsing with blue light. He gaped at it for a second, before throwing on a jacket and shoes and rushing out of his room. He raced down the dorm stairs and outside. Panting as he surveyed the Vertex Centre, he felt a chill of fear as the building appeared to rip itself apart.
Time appeared to slow; should be warn his friends about the building erupting before him or should he try to rescue the people in the centre? The small voice inside Herbert wanted to run and hide, but he was a Flynn. His parents were Superheroes! He might not have powers himself but he HAD to try and do something.
He took off in the direction of the building. Captain Omega would be in there, he was sure of that. His parents had been friends with him; hell, he'd even talked to him at a dinner or two. And he was in trouble. Sure, how could the most powerful superhuman in the world be in trouble? Herbert didn't know but he was resolved to do what he could.
As he got closer to the building he heard the screams of Captain Omega but before he could even open his mouth a huge wave of energy exploded from the building. It hit Herbert with the force of a truck, blowing him off his feet and suddenly he was suspended in light, arcs of electricity shooting onto his skin. The pain was like being struck by lightning and Herbert screamed as his body was supercharged and ripped apart with energy.
He screamed in agony, as lightning flew off his body, damaging buildings around him, before he blacked out.
His body dropped from the sky and flew through the walls of the Vertex Centre.

Something threw Signe bodily from her bed and her eyes snapped open. Her brain whirled through at least five different answers before she hit the floor and none of them made any sense. Colliding with the floor Signe raised both her hands to her eyes to try and block out the incredible light that was still searing through her eyelids. Signe heard a cry before realising it was her own voice. What the hell was happening? What was going on. She rolled so that she was now on her front and buried her face in the floor. Dreams still whirled in her head, combining everything into a mess of emotion and sense. Everything was overloading.
Signe finally managed to get herself up onto her knees and laid her hand on the door. She calculated whether or not she could make it to the pharmacy. Probably. But she'd heard others scream. It probably wasn't just her. Signe looked up at the door, concentrating on it. Right. One step at a time. One step at a time. She grabbed the handle and pushed the door open. She stood up and swayed. Strange... She was sure that she hadn't been wearing shoes when she went to bed...
Deciding that she'd forgotten about them, Signe made her way down the corridor to the stairs. Confused and pained faces were beginning to emerge from every door. Some, more than one face. Signe stayed focused. Don't look at them. Keep going.
She made it down to the common room and made her way to the front door. One step at a time. One step at a time. She reached out again to touch the door and stopped again. That hand wasn't hers...

Olem was woken sudden by a surge of light that flashed like someone had detonated a magnesium flare in his room. "What the fuck?" he murmured to himself when a sudden wave of energy knocked him into the side of his room. He felt his breath ripped away from his lungs, as his back collided with the wall, and he slumped against it, waiting for the feeling to subside. When he eyes got back into focus, he picked himself up and rushed over to his coat and threw it on, as a wave of intense nausea ripped through his abdomen "That does not feel good" he muttered, and staggered out of his room. Around him was chaos, as people screamed about an explosions and ran for the doors, with whatever they could carry in their hands. More preoccupied with his stomach, Olem slowly walked towards a toilet, but someone bumped into him in the confusion. The person recoiled backwards as if struck, and collapsed on the floor, red spots starting to appear on their skin. They started to scream, hands clawing at their face as the spots began to burst, pus oozing out of the sores. Olem, feeling nauseous already, shoved past them, leaving them to their misery as he hobbled towards the nearest loo.
He got to it, and not a moment to soon, for within seconds of closing the door, he puked straight into the toilet. "I didn't drink that much last night did I?" he groaned, before emptying his stomach into the bowl. The feeling reduced to a dull ache, he got up and cleaned himself off, and exited the room. A girl threw up as he made his way past her, luckily none of it landed on him. "Think, I'm just gonna go back to bed" he said to himself, as another person he walked past collapsed "apparently some sort of bug is going around, and I'm not in the mood to catch it" He shoved past someone who had paused in the corridor, and they fell against the wall, coughing up blood. He reached his room, and fell against the door and into the bed, forgetting to take his coat off, and passed out.

Chris started to come round as she could hear someone urgently dashing out the dormitory door. She was used to hearing loud noises at night but she always remained on guard given the nature of her local area, you never knew if someone was breaking in. At first she just thought someone had gotten lucky at the bar but then she noticed that her room had been illuminated by a strange blue light. The entire room was glowing!
She kept out of bed and went to the window to see Herbert racing towards the Vertex Centre.
"What on earth is he doing?" She muttered to herself. She quickly threw on some jogging bottoms and a jacket before leaving to pursue Herbert.
She jogged slowly behind him as not to get too close lest he notice her following. All of a sudden the sky was filled with blue lightning and waves of energy were being emmitted from the Vertex Centre.
Chris halted and became rooted to the spot as she faintly heard someone screaming in shear agony. As she saw Herbert getting near and near to the erupting building she quickly found a sense of urgency and sprinted as fast as she could.
"Herbert!!!" She cried out,"Herbert wait!!!! Stop!!!"
As she was running more lightning and energy was flung forth from the building and she saw Herbert become engulfed by it. She continued to run towards him, her heart pounding like a drum, when all of a sudden an energy wave hit her in the midriff and hurled her backwards.
Everything seemed to slow down as it felt as if she was hanging in midair. She thought to herself "is this it? Is this how I die? After everything? Is this all it is? A science experiment? A goddamn science experiment!?"
Her mind also drifted to something her brother John had told her every time he'd beaten her in a sparring match:"it doesn't matter if you fall down Chris, you'll pick yourself back up again."
With that as her last thought, here body hit the ground with a tremendous thud.
