Chris just burst out laughing at Signe's response. Wow! She was spot on, though Chris didn't feel like she stereotyped people all that much. Given that she was from the north and Manchester at that, she felt she was stereotyped enough without adding to the stereotypes of the world. Though she reckoned everyone was prone to stereotyping to some extent. She lost herself in those thoughts for a moment.
When she stopped laughing, she turned her attention back to Signe.
"Well that's fair enough I guess," she smiled at her.

"Sorry," said Signe. "It wasn't fair of me."

"Nah it's fine. We all have our first impressions. Besides, you're right, I am loud and abrasive," Chris said with an even wider grin on her face. She liked Signe. She seemed like one of the good guys. Plus all the other girls she'd known, from school and college, had just been complete and utter bitches, that's why Chris had never really had any girl friends so it was nice to be getting along with people like Aurora and now Signe.

Signe smiled weakly and too another sip of her drink. "I don't really do loud... I'm just... Easy to pass over. But I always figured thst was better than failing you know..."

"Failing? Failing at what?" Chris now had a puzzled look on her face. What did Signe mean by that? What could a beautiful, seemingly intelligent, young woman be failing at?

"Failing to be what is expected of me," said Signe.

Herbert was getting ready to head back to the dance floor; he was also wondering where Aurora and Olem had ended up. Looking around he saw Canagold leading a new dance. It must be weird, he thought. To willingly put yourself in the firing line of all the Olympus haters. He had to know that people thought he was a dick. Maybe he just did r for fun though; it felt weird but he could sense Canagold's emotions like everyone else. He felt happiness but also a little trepidation. It felt like Canagiold was actually very aware of what he was doing.
Turning away, he added to Chris and Signe's conversation. "Yeah I know what it's like to be judged. Maybe overestimated. It's not fun," he said rather shyly.

"Why what are you expected to be? And by who?" Chris was very puzzled now as her brow began to crease.

"Normal. By everyone," said Signe, taking a much bigger gulp of her JD and coke. "Even the LGBT+ leader last year wanted me to confirm and that's just my pansexuality. Don't get me started on my relationship philosophy."

After his conversation with Aurora, Olem's mood had darkened. He picked an empty glass on the floor, irritated with the whole situation. He wasn't a fan of clubbing in his 20's, let alone in his 30's, and to top it all, Aurora dumping her story on him regarding the mysterious rapist on campus had added another problem to an already filled mind. He stopped walking, and concentrated on calming himself down, as he realised people had started to cough as he walked past them. He thought back to the lake, back to The Redeemer, and forced himself into a state of calm. His powers receded, but he could feel it on the surface, 'so that would mean no skin touching' he thought to himself, beginning to walk again.
He made his way through the crowd, barging through the drunken revellers, as they gyrated and danced around him. He reached the bar, becoming something of a common location for him, and he ordered a double straight whisky, needing something a bit stronger if he was going to attempt to socially function tonight. He downed it in one large gulp, the liquid searing his throat as it went down, and he ordered another, turning away from the bar, but not moving as he watched the crowds. He pulled back his coat sleeve and checked the time 'hmm past my usual bed-time' he thought, with a slight smirk to himself.

Herbert, left out of Signe and Chris' conversation glanced at Olem as entered and walked past people, who were turning pale and starting to cough. Frowning, he made his way over to him, careful to keep his distance.
"You okay? Just it's starting to become the Infection Control Centre here."

Chris chuckled to herself. She found what Signe was saying very interesting, strange, but interesting.
"Signe, look around us, look at me, look at Olem, look at Lucio, look at that golden fly-boy up on the stage. The things we can do, our abilities, our powers. Is that normal? Are we normal? Are those without powers abnormal? Who knows? You say that everyone expects you to be normal but I ask you this, define normal? Everybody's different, everybody's unique. All we can do is try to do the best we can and be the best we can be and that's all you should ever expect of yourself. Fuck anyone else. So go be the best you can be Signe, because you have the potential to be great," Chris smiled at her.
Where in the world had that speech come from!? Since when was she, Christina Savage, capable of that!? Guess she really was becoming the responsible one.

"Have you ever been bullied for being who you are?" Asked Signe looking up. "I have. It is not nice."

Olem raised an eyebrow at Herbert's comment "it's fine, I got it under control" he muttered, draining his glass "something, annoyed me, I just had to adjust slightly". Olem turned back to the bar, and ordered another drink "but I think the more apt way of putting it is burying it". He turned back to Herbert "but enough of me. Have any of the women here caught your eye? Or maybe you caught there's?" he smirked slightly, taking a sip from his glass "for the night is still fairly young, and it's the last night of Freshers and all that".

Perhaps Chris' little pep talk hadn't worked as well as she'd hoped. The problem was she hadn't been bullied. Not really. Whenever anyone had tried to, she just beat them up so naturally, they immediately stopped. After a while, people didn't mess with her purely because of her reputation. It was hard for her to empathise with Signe but she felt like she needed to give it a go.
"People tend to lash out at others because of their own insecurities or because they simply do not understand the other person, they can't grasp the 'why', why are they the way they are? People always fear what they don't understand and so act out in rash and possibly violent ways," Chris tried to give Signe some answers, she was still smiling at her in an attempt to be as comforting as possible.
Where was she pulling these speechces from though? Seriously!?
