(Okay, this is very long and I imagine many won't read all of it. I didn't intend there to be so much fighting because I want to focus more on Gilbert and April but it kinda went that way and here you go. The next one will be better! I originally intended to talk about Herbert himself but then I realised his parents have superpowers so they'd be more interesting.)
Gilbert Flynn stood on the building, gazing down at the streets below. He scratched his cheek; he was trying to grow out his beard and it itched. Omega had said it would make him look more heroic but Gilbert was starting to think Omega just wanted him to look more like a jackass. He sighed, watching, rolling his shoulders in his Olympus battle suit. Tight fitting (maybe too tight) with plates of flexible armour, it stopped Gilbert from ending up with a bullet in his chest. Mostly... it was still a prototype and it wasn't like they could really test it on Omega; the man was already bulletproof.
Gilbert was ripped out of his thoughts by the sudden noise of a door being broken below. Moving to the edge of the building, he spied a roof door, two men exiting it in a hurry. Endless would never learn... He leapt off the building, his hands suddenly crackling with electricity. He forced the energy down into the street below, pushing himself out of freefall and onto the roof where the two men were debating. Rolling on impact, he came up and moved into a combat stance, smiling.
"Fancy seeing you here, Endless," Gilbert smiled. "Nice day for a robbery I'd say."
The two men in black looked back at him in unison, before the left man was sucked back into the body of the right. The man stood up straight and spread his arms. He was dressed in a fitted black leather outfit, with black boots and a half mask over his face. His teeth gleamed as he smiled.
"Yeah, I thought so too, Voltage" he replied casually. "You keeping well?"
Gilbert shrugged. "Can't complain. Still wearing that gay outfit?"
Endless frowned. "It's not gay, it's- you know, not this again." He spread his arms and replicas of him burst forth. Gilbert tensed, spraying electricity outwards to keep them at bay. The worst thing about Endless was not the infinite clones he could create, but the fact each held a small amount of the originals extra powers. In this case, Endless had enhanced strength and speed. Not enough to make him unbeatable in a straight fight but enough to pass on some to each clone so that being hit felt like being hit with a baseball bat. So that meant the order of the day was evasion and keeping them back.
Gilbert blasted back five with a wall of electricity before creating a a sparking blue lasso. Advanced electrical manipulation like that had taken him years to master but it was worth it. He grabbed one clone in the rope, sparks slashing into his captors skin, before spinning him around his body, knocking and throwing many over from the electrical force. Gilbert knew he could end this if he just got the original Endless...
Gilbert shot a single arrow of energy at Endless but the villain dodged and this move had cost Voltage his space. Two clones came rushing up, swinging with their fists. Gilbert ducked under one, slamming a electrical wreathed arm into the other, throwing the clone into the air. He came up just in time to block the first clones punch, but the impact numbed his arm. Spinning around he managed to fire a burst of power into clone, dropping him instantly. He turned away from the clones screams as he withered in the ground, electricity dancing over his body.
The extra clones Endless had summoned had nearly surrounded Voltage so he pushed himself off the ground in a electrical burst, flying ten feet in the air and slamming his fist down. A wave of electricity exploded outwards, frying the immediate clones and throwing the rest back. Endless himself landed on his back, howling in pain.
"That was shorter than usual," Gilbert mocked, "You're getting slow, Endless."
Endless panted on the ground. "Perhaps, Voltage... or perhaps you're getting slow." Gilbert started at this and turned around. Six clones had hung back and pounced when his back was turned. He felt a fist connect with his stomach; if not for the armour he'd be completely winded. He tried to block the next blow but a clone grabbed his arm whilst two battered away at him. He tried to coat his body in electricity but he was barely staying conscious.
Endless strode closer as Voltage was thrown onto his knees. He knelt, smiling. "How long have we been at this, Voltage?" he asked.
Gilbert didn't answer, instead trying to punch him in the stomach. Endless caught his fist easily with enhanced speed, before twisting it until Gilbert's shoulder dislocated. He cried out in pain before falling forward, panting.
"Too long," Gilbert answered, spent.
Endless nodded. "I thought so. I guess that means its time to end it." He gestured at his clones. They grabbed Gilbert's neck, wrapping their arms around it. He felt the air start to leave his lungs as he struggled. His vision went black as he clawed at the clones. I guess Omega never get to see the jackass beard after all.
Just as he gave up, he felt the arms leave his throat. Falling to the ground he saw Endless summon more clones. Twenty of them; Endless stood their panting from the exertion as they attacked the new figure. If Gilbert's brain wasn't already deprived of oxygen, he was sure it would be soon; just looking at this new figure made him lightheaded. An athletic figure wrapped in a tight golden and silver costume, high boots with a lightning bolt down the side, her honey blonde hair flying around her face as she dealt with Endless' clones. And the speed. The new figure would duck under and around arms in a blur before slowing suddenly. Just as the figures closed in, she burst forward in a blur of punches and spinning kicks, too fast for his eyes to follow, and too quick for Endless too.
"Stop her!" Endless cried, drawing more clones, his face paling. "It's just one hero!" Fifty clones surged out; Gilbert had never seen so many before in one burst. They made to surround the new figure but she just moved around them with that same blinding speed, with the strange stops in between. One clone managed to grab her arm but she just jumped up, grabbing him and twisting through the air, taking the clones arm with her. With a crack the bones snapped and she kicked the body into the advancing army before her.
She might not be able to see it, but Gilbert could. She was going to be overrun. "Stop Endless! Stop the main one!" He shouted at her. "They can't function without him!" Endless heard him and snarled. "Shut up!" He cried, slamming a foot into his face. As Gilbert went down the woman, having heard him, changed course. With a jumping kick she took down the clone before her and raced towards Endless. At first she moved normally, but in a blur of motion her body quickened to superhuman levels and she flew towards Endless, kneeing him in the face as she returned to normal speed.
As Endless went down so did his clones, being sucked back into his body...
When Gilbert awoke he saw the women staring down at him. A simple mask covered her eyes so he could still see her high cheekbones, the full lips, the piercing grey eyes locked onto him.
"You okay?" She asked.
Gilbert, unable to form words just nodded.
She frowned. "Nice job there, dumbass."
Gilbert frowned, finding his tongue. "Hey, he caught me off guard!"
"Clearly," she said sarcastically, standing up and adjusting her gloves.
Gilbert frowned. "Hey, just because you're beautiful doesn't mean you can be a dick," he told her, getting to his feet.
"Oh wow, do you think I'm pretty?" She asked in a mocking voice. "Thank you so much, you made my day," she said with false excitement.
Gilbert turned away, pissed off, before turning back to her. "Why are you here anyway?" He demanded.
She laughed, locking her eyes onto his. "I saw you in my dreams."
