'Nice tricks Herbert,' the Redeemer told him. 'But you'll need more than those to beat me. After all, how can you fight time?'
The Redeemer teleported next to Herbert, and made to grab him.

(OOC That's not the emotion Chris feels when fighting btw Flynn, it's the thrill of the challenge, she finds it fun and exciting, basically like Goku, she gets giddy at the prospect of a good fight not angry, anger only comes out during the fight if she's getting her arse kicked)

(OOC: Yeah, I figured it wouldn't be a great match, but that just means his use of it will be weak.)
Herbert was grabbed by the Redeemer and tried to flare his energy as Chris did, into a shockwave outwards, but something was wrong. He wasn't connecting with the ability properly. He put his hand on the Redeemer's mask, a sudden burst of fear coming out. The fear led to another replicated ability, ice springing out of his hand and coating the Redeemer's helmet. Herbert used what little control he had of Chris ability to push himself out of the Redeemer's grip and darted away, trying to think. Hopefully that ice blinded him for a second. How did he fight time?!
To make sure some distance remained, he tried to fire off a string of electricity, but a burst of fire came out instead. Herbert was going insane trying to keep track of what he could use, what emotions fuelled which ability. He delved back for the electricity and fired off a wave of crackling bolts, manipulating them into a rope. He sweated trying to keep it together, and managed to wrap it around the Redeemer.

The Redeemer jerked back as his helmet was coated in ice. He ripped the ice off, sending shattered shards across the square.
Fire leapt towards him but he just teleported to avoid it, advancing on Herbert as he dodged the various abilities which were exploding out of the young super.
Suddenly, an electrical rope caught him, tying his limbs together. His armour protected him as the electricity crackled, and with another roar, a burst of dark energy blew apart the rope, and flew in all directions like a dark tsunami.
'Enough,' he growled. 'Now I finish it. It's been fun, Flynn.' Time slowed around them, and the Redeemer advanced towards Herbert, moving quickly. His fists tightened as he drew nearer.

(OOC: Redeemer and I agreed on this little bit of power/trying to stop time mashup.)
Herbert felt time slow and his brain went into overdrive. He didn't have the ability so he couldn't nullify it... he thought of Nathan. He was going to fail him. he needed to be more powerful. He- wait... Nathan's ability. He could absorb intangible 'things'. Could that include time? He delved into his raw feelings over Nathan and he brought out his ability easily. He started to try and suck the 'syrup' that was the Redeemer's controlled time into him. He felt a twist in his stomach and his vision flickered, but he kept at it until it started to run faster. He took a deep breath; Nathan appeared to be breathing. Oh thank God! Herbert relied on the close proximity to help fuel the ability as he moved to his mother's. He needed to be faster. His brain hurt and his body felt like he'd run miles but suddenely-
Herbert was free, moving a supersonic speeds, and fighting the time control, he managed to move normally within it's effects.
"I agree, let's finish this," Herbert snarled, so angry his father's ability was bouncing off his. He needed to be more powerful, he needed to kill the Redeemer. He felt another reserve of power; Preservation's. The villain had been obsessed with becoming powerful. That's why she had her ability to begin with. Herbert's fragile emotional state allowed him to access it now.
He reached out his hands. He was a novice with this power, but he managed to grasp the Redeemer and with his other hand, he kinda 'grasped' his shoulder plate and tried to rip it free. He strained; it was like trying to pull a screw out of wood.

The Redeemer was shocked. He could feel that time was just as slow for others, but Herbert was... resisting it. He looked at the prone body of Spectre, and realised what was happening.
'You can't...' His fists clenched so hard the armour around them cracked. Suddenly a force started wrenching at his armour, starting to pull it loose. He grasped it, felt it coming apart. Panic gripped for a second; the Redeemer thought quickly, and wrenched it off himself, throwing his shoulder guard at Herbert with massive force. He teleported to follow it, aiming to sweep out Herbert's leg.

Herbert's reflexes were in a unique situation. He didn't have full access due to them being used to actually perceive what was happening but he had enough space that he could see the shoulder plate coming for him.
He ducked under it but suddenly his leg was swept away. He fell on the floor as the Redeemer appeared above him. No time to feel pain, he thought. He pushed his mother's power to the limit, coming up quickly. The burst ended and he grasped desperately for the bare shoulder, not covered by the unique armour.

(The Redeemer's shoulder was covered in black cloth, a light padding almost.)
The Redeemer grabbed Herbert's arm as quick as lightning, and started twisting it. He grabbed Herbert's throat with his other hand and started tightening his grip.
'Why do you find the need to frustrate me, Herbert?' he growled. 'You never can leave well enough alone. You think you're a hero, but I've already told you that you. Are. No. Hero!' He started squeezing harder than ever.

Herbert cried out in pain. "Because... you... killed... Nathan," he gasped. He suddenly shot off into the air, taking the Redeemer with him. The air whipped past them as they rose into the sky, and Herbert started pushing at the Redeemer with telekinesis, trying to push him off.

The Redeemer held on and teleported, dragging Herbert right back down to a building. The Redeemer twisted so Herbert was inches from the surface of the building as they emerged from the pulse of his teleportation.

Herbert tried to push against the Redeemer, but he couldn't fight his strength. He twisted a hand, trying to reach a patch of skin he could push his injuries onto. He stretched, feeling the unprotected patch but he couldn't feel anything bare. He felt beaten, and he used those emotions to channel Signe. He tried to make one of his fingers into a blade, like he'd seen Signe do, and cut away at the Redeemer's jacket. Before Herbert seemed to have be able to absorb through clothes, but the Redeemer's suit was different. He tried to move his finger and cut through the fabric.

Taniel's hand twitched, feeling the air currents around him, before grabbing at them, shooting himself into the air. He moved himself onto Nelson's column and landed on top of it, surveying the surrounding area.
"I'm skipping out on lectures to be a mild nuisance to some super heroes” he muttered to himself, and took off his glasses, pinching the bridge of his nose in annoyance. He’d be quite shocked by Margarita’s vehement hatred of the super she was fighting, and believe the situation was desperate to threaten a civilian. He rubbed the lenses of his glasses on his robe, as he thought about the last week, leading up to him partaking in criminal activities with a bunch of people who on average he’d never talked to. He turned his head watching a blurry White turn into a bird and fall into a building, bringing a smile to Taniel’s lips, his large yellow eyes glinting malevolently under his hat. He shook his head of dark thoughts and looked at his watch, deciding whether it was better to just fly off and leave everyone to their fighting. He had more important things that required his attention. He stood up, putting his glasses back on. He had no negative, nor positive feelings regarding Olympians, but he tried to be a pacifist, despite what life threw at him. He stepped off Nelson’s column and reached out, forcing the air around him to catch him. He hovered there for a few seconds, watching the retreating figure of the grumpy guy carrying Aurora to safety. Maybe this super malarkey wasn’t for him? Yeah, his powers were nice and all but he didn’t want to use them to help ‘his cause’, and it wouldn’t help him get a job when he was older. Besides, Alice wanted to see him again, and that was worth keeping away from this chaos. With a final look at Margarita, Taniel rocketed off across London, back to the University.

The Redeemer saw what he was doing and grabbed Herbert's head, driving him into the concrete on the side of the building, attempting to daze Herbert.

Herbert's head hit hard and his vision blurred. He let his energy go and slumped on the building.
"I'll kill you," he muttered, hate glowing in his eyes.

'Maybe,' the Redeemer said, unconcerned. He leaned down next to Herbert. 'You got in a few good hits, Herbert, but it just wasn't good enough.'
He prepared to break his neck, but suddenly stood. He looked around, then back to Herbert.
Without a word the Redeemer pulsed away, appearing next to Froststar. 'Come with me,' he told his allies, holding out his hand. 'Link hands and let's go before Olympus arrives.'
