(In this short mini-series, I plan to explore the Redeemer in a bit more detail. But first, a simple fight. Hope you enjoy!)
The White Knight was one of Olympus most experienced, talented, and dangerous heroes. He wore white body armour, with silver armour in places. And he was ignoring the screams of the woman trapped beneath rubble, as the building burned around her.
This wasn't new. It was typical. The Redeemer watched as he turned away and left her to die. The White Knight carried a babe, but he had barely glanced at the woman, as the fire threatened to consume her. He was about to dive out of the window when the Redeemer entered the building. He teleported into the hot air, and his suit's humming picked up as it defended him from the fire that raged everywhere.
'You've left her,' the Redeemer growled.
The White Knight turned, and his eyes narrowed. He set down the child, which started screaming. 'You.'
'Me,' the Redeemer agreed. The White Knight moved forward, turning into wind as he crashed into the Redeemer. They fell back through a wall, and it crashed to the ground, sparks flying everywhere. The Redeemer recovered quickly and kicked him in the face, sending him flying. The Knight's helmet cracked a bit as he slid across the floor.
The Redeemer moved forward slowly, taking his time as the Knight got to his feet. 'You have no time,' the Knight said, wiping blood from his mouth. 'My friends will be here soon.'
'I control time,' the Redeemer growled. He stopped time but the Knight turned to wind and flew towards the Redeemer. He ducked, but then the Knight materialised behind him and punched him. The Redeemer staggered and time resumed its flow as the Knight pressed his attack. His blows were as fast as the wind and he kept transforming as he darted in and out of the Redeemer's reach. The man in black retaliated by teleporting so they flashed through the building so quickly only flashes remained.
The Redeemer gained the upper hand and threw the Knight to the ground. He put a boot on his face and prepared to bring his bring his fist down, to end it, but suddenly another body slammed into him. The Redeemer was thrown back as the woman gripped him, and started to crush his helmet, drawing upon the fear around them for power.
'It's a pleasure to see you, Silvia' the Redeemer said casually as she tightened her grip. A blast of black energy threw her off him and he stood, throwing off his cape. 'Where's the other one?' he asked, as if this were dinner, and not a fight.
'Coming,' Silvia responded. She wore armour, like the Redeemer, except it was dark red. 'And I feel fear.' Her body pulsed as he drew power from the people around them.
'Not, from, me,' the Redeemer growled. Suddenly a hand whipped out and smashed him in the face. He fell to the ground as another hero stood over him, his fist granite.
'I've been waiting a long time for this you scum.' Stone, as he was simply known, was not particularly pleasant.
The Redeemer stood. 'Would it be remiss to say I have been too.' He touched the cracked portion of his mask, checking the damage, then pointed at each of them. 'One, two, three. Leave now, or you all die. I have a purpose here.'
They ignored him and attached together. The Redeemer ducked Stone, then grabbed his arm and threw him away. He crashed through a burning wall. Silvia attacked him next but he blocked her blows and slowed time as he retaliated with several punches that dented her armour. She fell back and the Redeemer teleported to avoid the blast of wind which the Knight sent his way. He reappeared next to the Knight, and brought a leg down to break the Knight's knee. It crunched. The Knight screamed in pain, and the Redeemer turned, only to be pounded by Stone. He fell to his knees and Stone slammed into him again. The Redeemer punched him back, but the impact actually dented his armour. The Redeemer looked at it, mildly surprised and actually in some pain, as Stone picked him up and threw him into the burning fire that surrounded them.
Mid-air the Redeemer teleported and appeared next to Silvia. She turned but he had already blasted her with energy. As she flew through the air, he slowed time then turned to face Stone.
Stone growled and ran forward, determined to end him. The Redeemer dodged, once, twice; the force of the blows passing him were immense. He slowed time and then then started speeding it up within the bubble. Stone struggled, but it was a common fact he could only stay in his form for an hour at a time. He screamed, it sounded unnatural as time became faster. The Redeemer watched for a second, then turned to Silvia, who was still flying through the air.
'This was too easy,' he said. Then he grabbed her and pulled her from the air, and broke her neck.
Stone still struggled and screamed as the Redeemer approached. 'Olympus is a lie,' he told him. 'And you are a liar! You should never have betrayed me,' he said, his anger making his shake. And now you're out of time.' Stone's skin returned to normal and the Redeemer resumed the normal flow of time. Then punched him through the chest.
The Knight flew to him with a scream of grief, but the Redeemer was ready and he slowed time. He released another blast of energy which threw the Knight into the ceiling wall, part of which collapsed on top of him. He screamed as he burned.
The Redeemer sighed, then stopped time. He walked to the woman and threw the rubble off her. The flames were close, but now they were frozen, and the Redeemer picked her up. He teleported away with the woman, leaving any others behind.
She was a superhuman.
