Rain. It had been raining in the small town of Gulleh, causing the nearby river to swell and threaten to spill over it's sodden banks. Muddy boots splashed through puddles as people made their way around the town. Rumours of witchcraft and sorcery had invades the minds of the residents, who as god fearing servants, wanted nothing to do with that blasphemous nonsense. It was around noon when a young man hobbled into the town, leaning heavily on a gnarled branch of a tree, in a vague attempt at a walking stick. His pale face was contrasted by a dark piece of linen covering his eyes, a shaggy mop of slightly greasy light brown hair half concealed by a hood. A young girl ran up to meet him, her blonde hair plastered to her skull with water.
"Herbert!" she cried, as she got nearer. The man turned his head towards the sound and tilted his head slightly to the side. He smiled lightly.
"Chris" he said, his voice soft "how have you been?" he stopped walking, and rested on his stick.
"I'm fine!" she said, excitement bubbling out of her pores "I'm happier now that you're here! Especially if you're to believe the rumours"
"Rumours? What rumours?" he asked, his voice hardening slightly "I've not come across any rumours since I left from Lord Lucio's castle"
"They are saying the four were spotted" she said, moving her head next to his to whisper in his ear.
"The four? You're sure about this?" Herbert asked, shocked.
"It's the talk of the town, despite a crackdown on rumours like that" she said "It would appear our 'guard dog' is not doing her job effectively" disdain dripping from her tongue.
"Keep them in check, this must not get out!" he hissed, annoyance settling in his core "we have enough to worry about without worrying about those traitors".
"We do?" Chris asked, shocked.
"There is news of an illness, a malady caused by the alignment of the planets or by not enough church" he scoffed "the things peasants believe". He started to walk towards the town hall, and beckoned Chris to follow.
"It's not his doing is it?" Chris asked, the colour draining from her face.
"I hope not, unless his power has increased from when we last dealt with him, he cannot create plagues, only symptoms" Herbert muttered, and opened the door of the town centre. He stopped and leaned down to Chris "just in case, get a messenger to Lord Lucio, he must be aware of their movement"
Above the pair, perching on edge of the roof, a crow tilted it's head to the side. It had observed the conversation since Herbert had entered the town. With a loud caw, it flapped it's wings, taking to the skies.

The skies darkened as the crow flew, passing over towns and little desolate villages as it made it's way across England. It slowly began to descend as it spotted three figures hunched over a fire and landed upon one of their shoulders, a man with his head covered by a hood with a beak poking out.
"That's good to know" he muttered, as the bird whispered into his ear. "It would appear Olympus is on to us" he looked at the others, hoods also drawn over there heads to keep out the weather. "That allows us to be a bit less subtle" his voice was light, as if amused by his words.
"Olem" one of them said, turning towards him, orange hair cascading out of her hood. "We're not yet finished here, we can't leave just yet"
"We've got one more camp to go Aurora" the final member muttered, absently watching a pair of dice rotate in circles in the air above his palm "then we can leave to somewhere a bit more private, where that mutt can't find us".
"I know Alex, but still, it's awfully close" she said, slightly worried.
Olem suddenly stood up, the crow cawing in annoyance at his jarring movement. "Well, in that case, we'd best go finish our purge shouldn't we?". The other two nodded, and stood up as well. Alex stowed away his dice in a little leather pouch, whilst Aurora walked over to the tents and started to dismantle them. "Once we've finished packing here, we'll head off. If memory serves the camp should be around half a days ride from here" he paused turning his head to look at the bird on his shoulder, the glass lenses in his mask emptily staring at her. "Signe, if you could, please scout ahead for us" he said softly and held out his arm. She nuzzled her head into his hood, and made her way up his arm. With a loud caw she beat her wings and took flight. Olem watched her fly off, staring blankly at the horizon as she disappeared from sight
"Olem!" Aurora shouted, shaking him from his stupor "we're packed here, mount up" she turned away and climbed onto her horse, waiting for him to do the same. Alex had already ridden ahead slightly, but waited along a rocky outcrop for is companions.
"Yeah" he muttered and walked towards his horse, and stopped along it's black flank. A wanted poster for Aurora's head was poking out of one of the saddle bags. 'Wanted for treason indeed' he thought. It had been ten years since that day. The day he had tried to remove the Olympian lord's head, and his position went from being knight protector to outlaw traitor. He sneered under his mask, his anger flaring slightly. He pushed the poster back into the bag, and closed it. With a grunt, he mounted his horse, and walked it over to Aurora.
"You ready?" he asked, turning his head towards her.
"Always"

I'm very thrown by the where we are in time but it'll be interesting to find out. And why Herb lost his eyes. But Signe can turn into a bird so it's all good.

"Olem, we're about nearly within site of the camp" Alex said, riding back to the other two.
"OK. Dismount! We're going from foot here" Olem called, bringing his horse to a stop. With a groan he dismounted, and fetched his weapon from the back of his mount, a large ornate sword forged with black steel. A single green crystal sat nested in the pommel. He slung the sword over his back, and he adjusted his coat, making sure he had enough gizmos for the coming fight. "Signe will join us when we attack. Lets try not to charge right into the camp this time though" he smirked under his mask.
Without a word, they moved silently across the field, making sure not to draw attention to themselves. As the sun started to appear on the horizon, they finally reached the camp. Olem signalled at Alex to take out the sentries. Alex took out his dice from his leather pouch and put them in his hand, and forced his energy into them causing them to rotate in his palm, increasing in speed with each revolution. With a pointed gesture he forced one of the dice off of his hand and back to it, shooting through a sentries head and returning covered in blood. The sentry slumped to the ground, as if someone had cut the strings of a puppet. No-one had noticed his death. Olem drew his sword, whilst Aurora drew a pair of ornate daggers and they went into the camp. With a wave of his hand, Olem released a wave of pestilence upon the sleepy camp, causing various symptoms to break out amongst the soldiers near him.
"WE'RE UNDER ATTACK!" a solider roared, suddenly noticing the sentries death.
"Well, we've been spotted time to be less subtle!" Olem said, bringing himself to his full height and got into a fighting stance. Above them, Signe noticed things had started to go south, and started to descend rapidly. As she dropped her body started to expand, arms growing out of her body tipped with razor sharp claws, her face contorting and lengthening from a bird into a dogs. With the force of a cannon ball she slammed into a soldier and tore into him, her claws tearing his body to shreds whilst she attempted to bite as his face.
Alex pointed his hand at an armoured foe as it charged at him, brandishing a large axe, and started to close his hand into a fist. With a scream, the man started to contort into himself, and some of the other solider watched, paralysed with fear as one of their number was crushed into a small metallic ball by their assailants. One of the soldiers tried to run, but a rash had started to climb up his body. With panicky cries, he scratched at him self, his fingers turning red with his blood, and he collapsed to the floor, too preoccupied with his currently ailment to notice a large figure plunge a sword into his back.
"Do you think the mutt will turn up?" Aurora asked, nimbly dodging a clumsy sword swing.
"I'd rather she didn't to be honest" Alex muttered, sounding bored "I'm not really in the mood to fight her"
"Well, if she does turn up we'll actually have to kill her this time won't we?" Olem said, as he decapitated someone.
Aurora was about to say something, but a man charged at her and drove his sword into her belly. The shock of the blow faded from her eyes quickly, as a sadistic grin spread over her face. With a grimace she forced her body along the blade until she was a few inches from the mans face. He stared at her with terror in his eyes as she leaned forward and cupped his face with her hand. "That wasn't a very nice thing to do was it?" she asked, staring into his eyes as she rubbed her finger across his cheek. The man threw himself backwards, and onto his arse, blood starting to leak out of his mouth. With a squelch, Aurora drew the blade out of her body, watching as the wound started to seal itself shut. The man however was not so lucky as an wound started to appear in his abdomen, and he collapsed backwards, dead.
"I don't think I'm ever going to get used to that" Olem muttered, having watched the event.
"You're one to talk" she sneered, stalking into the camp. The man's attack had set off her blood-lust, and she needed to sate it.
It was around this point when a pair of hooded figures walked into the camp, both with the seal of Olympus on their back, much like the soldiers.
One of the newcomers pointed their hand towards the area Signe was fighting, and a small ball of fire shot towards her. There was a roar, as Signe's fur was singed by the ball, and she ran back towards the group.
"Sir!" Signe said, as she transformed back into her human form, her shoulder blackened by the impact of the power "I think they're here"
"You sure?" Olem asked, tilting his head to the side
"Yes! A figure shot a fireball at me, and their compatriot is much larger, but smells like a dog"
Olem growled "fine, we'll deal have to deal with them".

I sense a character battle coming next; who's that shooting fireballs? I'll be interested to see how that fight turns out.
