Herbert shook his head; he'd seen people at Olympus training somehow and this looked so pathetic in comparison; in the best way, but compared to the heroes flying around, doing advanced strength manevours etc. a couple of kids lifting weights on the Green was kinda funny. He smiled and kept it to himself though.
"Can I do anything else?" He asked.

Signe mirrored Chris thoughtfully.

Aurora continued to use the weights, very aware that she wasn't feeling any burn or ache or even getting tired from them. Was that the same part of her power that delayed the feeling of pain? If it was, it was something Aurora needed to concentrate on. It would be easy to push her body too far if she couldn't feel when to stop. For now, she feigned tiredness. Aurora let out a groan. “Ahh I don't think my arms are very good at this. Hey, Chris, even if we have noodle arms, would we still be able to throw someone away from us? Or break out of a headlock? Even if they have super strength? Is that possible? We could really use Canagold to spar against” She laughed.

"Hahaha yeh having Canagold here would help," Chris laughed back, "alright then guys, come gather round," she said as ushered them over to her.
"So Herb, you wanna get down to do some proper fighting yes? Well, before you even start a fight you need a stance to begin with. So, show me your fighting stance guys," she instructed to them.

Aurora automatically moved into her fencing stance. Even her arm raised behind her and the other was held out in front of her before she realised; 'wrong kind of stance'! She adjusted it slightly so her legs were still ready to leap forward or back, but her fists were held somewhat in front of her. She got herself low and tried to make herself as small of a target as she could while still being able to be agile. “I... Is there a fighting stance where it's easier for me to use my legs rather than fists?” She didn't feel right in such a stance. It didn't suit her.

Chris was taken aback by Aurora's quick movement into her stance.
"Wow! That's almost perfect," she said, almost stunned, "you need to adjust your arms a bit though. Bring your back arm closer to your side rather than outstretched like that. Your back arm is there to block any attack your opponent would attempt to make at your body. Now, if you move your front arm up so it's at a right angle, it will allow you block any attack to the front and to quickly jab at your opponent," Chris tutored as she adjusted Aurora's arms accordingly.
Chris truly was amazed, she didn't think it would be Aurora who would grasp this all so quickly. She didn't seem like the combat type.

Herbert moved into a steady stance with his legs apart, and his fists up. One of his arms was pulled back to cover is main body whilst the other one was slightly out, ready to be used. He'd seen this stance used by a lot of combat supers, but most of the time they didn't get to use them; why would you plant yourself in a combat stance when some guy was throwing acid at you, said his dad all the time. Then again, his dad did get beaten up a lot...
He chuckled to himself, but got Chris' attention.
"is this okay?"

Chris looked at Herbert's stance, her hand stroking her chin as the other propped it up. It wasn't bad but it had one too many weaknesses for her liking.
"It's okay," she tried to make it sound better than it was, "the problem with facing your opponent is that, firstly, your arm has too much to cover, your target area is massive. Plus, with your legs the way they are, you're only gonna be moving like a crab, side to side, and that's no good," she said as she moved over to him to adjust his body accordingly.
"Now, if you stand sideways on," she said as she moved his hips round to the correct position, "you can move forwards and backwards as well as side to side. Make sure to keep your weight balanced so that you can shift it with speed and ease whenever you need to," she moved his feet to be at right angles, about half a metre apart, "There you see? Now your arm has less to cover and your target area is much smaller," Chris smiled at Herbert.
She was surprised he didn't know more about combatty stuff. Maybe his parents didn't teach him to keep hims safe or something?

Herbert smiled at her. "Thanks," he beat himself up for not doing that before. It was obvious, he'd seen that. It didn't matter though; that's why he had to learn.

Aurora smiled sheepishly at Chris. “It's... what they taught me in fencing. I just can't throw a decent punch."

"Well fencing is a type of combat so at least they taught you properly. Then again about fifty percent of fencing is down to stance," Chris tried to further encourage Aurora, smiling at her all the while, "as for punching, well that's the next lesson. Now you have your stances fixed, I should be able to teach you that," she was getting really into this and becoming more and more excited, she hoped they were enjoying it as well as actually learning from it, "Signe? How you doing?"

Signe looked frozen. She wasn't fighter. She didn't want to be a fighter and she had genuinely no idea how to fight. The only reason she had even raised her fists before was because she had been engulfed in rage at the time.

"C'mon, it's okay," Chris said to her with a gentle smile as she approached, "I know you don't seem the type to be getting into fights but if anything like last night should ever happen again, at least you'd know a few things that'd help keep you alive a little longer," she encouraged but didn't intend for her words to sound quite so negative.
Just as she'd done for Aurora and Herbert, Chris began to move Signe's body about, putting her into the stance.
"There you go," she said beaming even more, "now if anybody attacks you or tries to anyway, just drop into this stance. You'll be surprised by how many people will back off if they think you know how to fight," she laughed a little at that last part.
She knew that Signe would be a little hesitant to do this but she did her nest to encourage her.

"Now you're getting the hang of it," Chris smiled at her, "okay, so who want's to learn how to punch properly?" she was now smiling over towards Aurora.
