<3 Valentine's Day <3
Chris stood in GAME. Her hands were in her hoodie’s pockets and music blasted into her ears as her eyes scanned the shelves. The street outside was flooded with couples, flowers and heart-shaped balloons. The blonde rolled her eyes at the cheap romance and picked up a game. Dragonball Xenoverse 2. A smirk came to her lips. ‘Yeah, this is perfect for him.’ Chris thought as she headed to the checkout. If he didn’t enjoy it, she certainly would.
Margarita had bowed down to get a better look at the delicious pastries on offer in the bakery. Her eyes flickered between the Devil’s chocolate cake and the Deep Red Velvet cake. Both with tasteful Valentine’s day decor. She straightened up at looked at the cheerful woman behind the till. Unable to decide between them, Margarita showed her beautiful smile to the cashier. “I’ll take these two, please.” She merrily chimed and watched the woman happily box up the treats. ‘Hopefully he likes at least one of them.’
Chris trotted down the street, feeling a little uneasy. She didn’t normally do Valentine’s day, but this year was different. It would be more than a quickie after bargain shots at a sleazy bar. This year required thought, effort and she actually wanted to spend quality time with the person on her mind. As she thought that, she spotted Alex and Freya sat on a bench making goo-goo eyes at each other, rubbing noses as a single rose sat on Freya’s lap. Chris smirked a little, it looked like this year had even pushed Alex out of his comfort zone and melted the ice around his heart.
Margarita felt self-conscious as she took extra care of the boxes in her hands. Usually, cards were anonymously showered on her and distant admirers came out and made awkward confessions, but this year was different. Margarita had found someone she wanted to get to know, to spend some time with and so she was going to make the awkward confessions; but only if the cake went down well. She looked around, ready to give anyone who looked like they were judging her a glare, as though they could read her mind. As she did, she noticed Aurora and Olem walking hand-in-hand, snuggled close, a build-a-bear box in Aurora's grasp. Margarita was certain it was Aurora’s idea, as she couldn’t imagine him taking the initiative.
Chris arrived at the back of the accommodation block, making sure that Ed and Isaac, who were hanging around on the grass, didn’t notice her. It wasn’t hard to sneak past them; since Isaac was stroking Ed’s paw and gazing into her golden eyes, holding her full attention. Chris shook her head and decided it was safe enough to fly into her window. After she did, she moved the chair from under her door handle and made her way to a certain someone’s room.
Margarita stopped outside of the accommodation block after spotting Taniel. She was going to say hello, but stopped when she noticed his flustered expression as he stuttered and held a bracelet-sized box out to the red-head, Alice. Margarita smiled at the scene and headed into the common room and up the stairs to a certain bedroom that was not her own.
The two girls walked down the opposite ends of the corridor until they met outside a door. Margarita raised her eyebrows. “Oh, hello Chris. Are you off somewhere?” She asked curiously, almost annoyed that Chris had stopped outside of Herbert’s door.
“Uh, not really, was just making sure Herb was alright. You know, some guys get a bit sad on Valentine’s day and need picking up.” She gave Margarita a wink.
The shorter woman put on a fake smile. “Oh, well no need for that. I am here to make sure he isn’t alone.”
“Didn’t know you were his Valentine…” Chris trailed off.
Margarita nervously laughed. “Well, you know, I’m not one to brag.”
“I’m sure he would have mentioned it if he was able to bag someone like you.” Chris raised an eyebrow.
Margarita stopped laughing. “Yes. Well. You can go now.”
“Nah, I think I’ll stick around.” Chris said playfully, but there was a hint of a challenge in her tone.
“Fine.” Margarita stated plainly, accepting the duel.
They both knocked on Herbert’s door.
Someone shuffled on the other side. There was a pause, then the click of the lock. The door opened a crack and Herbert poked his head into the corridor. “Oh! H-hello!”
“Happy Valentine’s day!” The two announced as they held their gifts out to him.
Herbert looked back into his room and then back at the women. Underneath his collar began to get very warm. “Listen, now isn’t a good time.”
“Why?” Margarita asked bluntly.
Chris blinked. She was a little taken aback but put on a cocky smile for show. “Who have you got in there?” She asked suggestively.
Herbert felt his cheeks heat up. “No one.” He tried to shut the door but Margarita was impatient and pushed it open. Herbert was taken by surprise and stumbled back. The two female Supers peered into the tiny room curiously.
The lights were off, curtains closed. A series on Netflix had been paused and a figure curled up in a blanket with hot chocolate in their hand sat on Herbert’s bed comfortably. “Hello Amici!” The accented voice rang out. “Happy Valentine’s Day!” Lucio cheerily sung and Herbert tried to hide his furious blush.
